Spring is here (family photography Chelmsford)

As I’ve been on maternity leave since having our second daughter Eliza in February, I took the opportunity of a beautiful Spring day and a picnic with friends, to dust of the camera and take these family portraits of Siobhan and 4 year old Esmee.

Esmee was the subject of my first ever blog post back in December 2011, and it’s fascinating to see how she has grown from a tiny two year old, into a lovely little girl.

It was a very bright day, so I grabbed the little open shade that was available to create these beautiful timeless images. It was great fun to photograph someone else, as since Eliza has been born she has been my sole focus, along with my 3 year old daughter, muse and photographic inspiration Izabel.

I could photograph Esmee and her beautiful eyelashes all day long, and with that in mind, here are my favourite photos from our impromptu Spring shoot!

Baby Eliza (Baby Photography Chelmsford)

Our beloved Eliza Gwen Holmes is now 12 weeks old, where did that time go? I only had her last week didn’t I?

Well she’s been earning her keep by modelling for Mummy, so I thought it was time for a photographic update on our little baby girl.

If you’ve missed the window for newborn photography of the very sleepy newborn poses, then hopefully this post will show you that no matter how old your new little bundle is, there are lots of fun baby portraits that can be achieved.

These baby photos were all taken age 10-12 weeks old. The upside of photographing the slightly older baby, is that they will now be smiling, may be able to hold there head up for some cute tummy time, they are aware of what’s going on around them, and able to engage with the photographer and camera to create some lovely images.

I have taken all of these baby photos of Eliza on her own, but there are so many other shots that can be achieved with baby in hold with Mummy and Daddy, so this is just a little taster of what can be done.

Eliza is going to continue to help Mummy to show you that no matter what age, it’s worth capturing your beautiful baby in priceless images that you will cherish for a lifetime.

I love her funny hair, dear little mouth, Orville like cheeks, and pretty much everything about her. It’s all in the detail!

She is a dear sweet smiley girl, and these happy chuckling photos of her really sum up her personality.

She’s not always in a good mood, this picture of her ‘just about to cry’ face will keep us amused for years to come.

Eliza Gwen Holmes (Newborn photography Chelmsford)

Welcome to the world Eliza Gwen Holmes. Finally born, several days late 15th February 2013. We waited along time for you girly, and we are delighted to have you in our lives.

It’s been almost impossible to whittle down the hundreds of pictures I have already taken of Eliza to a sensible number for this blog post. I am certain that she will be the most photographed baby, maybe not compared to the likes of Suri Cruise or Harper Beckham, but definitely the most photographed baby in Chelmsford at the very least.

She is my new muse, joining her beautiful sister Izabel in inspiring me every day to pick up my camera and record the precious moments of their lives.

These girls bring us joy beyond any measure, and are all of our dreams come true.

What I love about this little series is that it wasn’t what I intended. I was trying to ‘pose’ Eliza, but she had other ideas, and the facial expressions I have captured here I love far more than what I was actually going for.

She has changed so much in 5 weeks from these initial squishy pictures, and I look forward to showing you how you can beautifully photograph a baby at any stage of his or her wonderful life, using Eliza as my model.

Izabel is really the star of this photo.

Now already 5 weeks old you can see how much Eliza has changed and how large she has grown! We were just passing by her Sister’s bedroom and she thought she would have a little lay down while Mummy took some pictures.

I love this one for it’s simplicity, I just snapped her sleeping on her beanbag, nothing fancy, but I hope you will agree it is no less effective than the images above.

And though I could of course go on forever, I will leave you for now with what is arguably my all time favourite photo. My advice, never work with teddy bears – they are a right moody bunch!

Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas everyone!

I’ve been so busy this year working on other people’s family photography, I haven’t had the chance to photograph my beloved 3 year old Izabel for quite a while.

Izabel is the person that started my photography, everything I do is born out of a love of photographing her, and wanting to share that gift with other people. Making Mum’s and Dad’s smile through my photography really is what motivates me.

I had numerous ideas for her Christmas photo shoot this year, but in the end we just took Santa’s hat (her idea), my camera and ourselves to our local park and had some fun.

All that modelling couldn’t go unrewarded, time for a well earned lolly.

Once we’d finished our festive fun we took a stroll round to see the ducks. Izzy was slightly bemused as to why they didn’t want to eat chocolate.

Well that’s my last blog post for this year. I am now taking a short break for maternity leave, baby Holmes is due beginning of Feb so 2013 looks set to be an exciting year. I wont be out of action for long though, and I’m already taking bookings from April 2013 onwards.

Family Photography (North London)

I was delighted to be asked by dear friends Kate and Steve to photograph their gorgeous girls Mollie and Aoife. So earlier this incredibly cold month I made my way up to Tufnell Park in North London for this Family Portrait Photography Session.

It was rather windy and chilly but Kate, Steve, 4 year old Mollie and 2 year old Aoife rocked some beautiful smiles for their photo shoot.

Here are some of my favourite shots from our session.

Children’s Portrait Photography (Billericay)

I was delighted to be booked by Mum Jane for this children’s portrait photography shoot, after photographing her daughter Jessie for fab interiors, lifestyle and family living website Chalkboard Living.

Jane likes to have the children – Jessie 8, George 6 and Jack 2 photographed professionally once a year. This is such a good idea, as our children change and grow so quickly it’s great to keep all the wonderful stages of their life in photographic memories.

For this children’s lifestyle photography session, we went to Lake Meadows Park in Billericay. We were so lucky with the beautiful bright sunshine and fabulous Autumn colours.

It wasn’t easy to whittle the images down for blogging, but here are some of my favourites.

I know Jane wont mind me saying that Jack is going through the ‘terrible two’ stage, and this picture of him on the bench just makes me laugh and smile as it’s an accurate record of him at this point in his life.

How gorgeous are these two? It wont surprise you to know that Jessie is a professional children’s model.

I always carry some bubbles with me on every shoot, they are useful for breaking down even the toughest of customers!

Sometimes a photograph says it all. I simply adore this first image of Mum Mary and Dad Declan with their beautiful 5 month old baby girl Freya.

Mum Mary booked this baby photography photo shoot as a birthday gift for Declan. I’ve done a lot of gifted photo shoots this year, and it does make a great present as these photos with Freya will no doubt be cherished forever.

It was a cold wintery day for our baby and family photography shoot, but we still managed to get everyone outside for a few shots before taking Freya indoors to warm up and have a play around.

I had a great time photographing Mum Helen, Dad Nick and 18 month old Thomas on this family photo shoot at Hylands Park Chelmsford.

Thomas is such a scrumptious Mr Handsome and I just adore these photos from our Autumnal family portrait session.

Helen is not just a customer but also a friend of mine. I appreciate enormously her support of my photographic journey since I started the business over a year ago now. In fact baby Thomas was one of my first models, when I initially started dabbling with the idea that I might turn my love of children’s photography into a business. Here he is fast asleep just 2 weeks old.

Family Photography (Chelmsford)

When I first set up my business over a year ago now, Mum Ilana from my NCT group was one of the first people to book me. I appreciated that show of support enormously, and was delighted when she asked me to photograph her beautiful family again this Autumn.

It started out as a cold wet morning, but then the sun shone beautifully for this fun family photo shoot.

3 year old Elise and 1 year old Naomi were super stars. All I really ask of the children I photograph is that they have fun and I think this family have fulfilled that requirement beautifully.

Ilana wanted to book a lifestyle family portrait session to capture the family as they are now, before heading off to New Zealand for the next few months. The photos from their family photo shoot will be something they can treasure forever, and will no doubt make great Christmas gifts for family and friends.
