FAQs

Where will the photo shoot take place?

If you are booking a newborn photography session this will take place in the comfort of your own home. My newborn photo shoots don’t involve backdrops, props or lighting, it is an opportunity to photograph you and your beloved new baby at home, just as you are. I will be looking for the best lit room in your house, this often tends to be a bedroom, so be prepared for me to want to have a good nose around to find exactly the right spot.

Family photo shoots take place at a location of your or our choosing, some of my favourite locations to shoot are Hylands Park, Danbury Lakes and Hyde Hall Gardens to name a few.

Is there a good time of day for the shoot to take place?

Yes! I recommend family photo shoots to start between 9 and 10am, the earlier we start the better the light. I also don’t recommend photographing babies and very young children in the afternoon, as they tend to run out of energy as the day wears on.

With newborn photo shoots at home, I still recommend a morning shoot, as babies become more fractious as the day wears on. However we will of course work around a start time that fits in with baby’s nap and feed times.

How many people can we have in our photo shoot?

An at home newborn photo shoot is for baby, Mummy and Daddy.

An on location family photography portrait session is for a family of up to 5 people. There will be an additional charge for extra family members and more time will need to be allocated to your shoot.

What should we wear?

First and most importantly you should wear what you feel comfortable in, if you feel comfortable you will look comfortable and happy in your photos. But fear not, I will send you my tips on ‘what to wear’ prior to your shoot.

Can we bring props/toys?

Yes, you are very welcome to suggest props for your photo shoot or to bring your child’s favourite toy that they may enjoy to be photographed with. For an on location family photo shoot with particularly young children, it is good to be armed with toys, snacks and drinks.

What happens if it’s raining?

If the weather is truly terrible then we reschedule.

An at home newborn shoot is of course not affected by the elements.

When will we see the photos from our session?

You will receive details of how to access your private online gallery within 14 days of your photo shoot taking place.

How long do we have to decide what we would like to order?

Your gallery will be left online for 1 week. There is a £20 charge per extra day.

Why should you book with me?…
