Turning 18!

The lion share of my family photography involves photographing young children. I have two little ones myself, so I thoroughly enjoy the process of meeting your children, finding out what interests them, what makes them laugh and through that process producing images that reflect the joy of their true personalities.

That said however, I won’t pretend that it isn’t hard work chasing down a 3 or a 5 year old, and trying to get them to give Mummy a huggle, sit on Daddy’s lap, look at the camera‚Ķ You get the idea. So I was delighted to have a change of pace, when I was recently contacted by Mum Louise to photograph her 17 year old daughter Jen.

When I arrived at the house on the morning of the shoot, Louise invited me in for a cup of tea and I quickly felt very at ease with the family. Dad Tony humoured us for a few shots in the garden, then myself, Louise and Jen went for a walk around their local woods.

There was no need to chase Jen for a photo, we had a lovely stroll and a chat, and produced some really lovely portraits of both Jen and Jen and Mum.

It was clear to me that Jen and Louise have a great relationship, I certainly hope I’ll have the same with my girls currently aged 3 and 7 when they become teenagers!

Here are some of my favourite images from the shoot.
